The Energy Sector in the region boasts one of the leading hubs researching new and renewable sources of energy, a host of companies involved in offshore industries as well as major players in the environmental and nuclear decomissioning sector.
Leading edge companies making up the region's energy sector include Amec Wind Energy, Romag, CE Electric, Kvaerner, Mitsui Babcock, Hertel, Corus and Express Engineeering and Econnect.
The New and Renewable Energy Centre (NaREC): Narec was established in 2002 as a Centre for Excellence for new and renewable energy technologies. The company was incorporated in February 2003 as a knowledge-based services organisation.
A specialised team of technical and engineering consultants with a wide range of practical experience work to support the development and testing facilities at NaREC, helping to bridge the gap between innovation and realisation. NaREC’s unique world-class facilities offer testing and development of large wind turbine blades, marine renewables, offshore and subsea equipment, micro-renewables and High Voltage electrical equipment.
Northern Offshore Federation (NOF Energy): NOF Energy is the leading business development organisation for companies in the oil, gas and energy-related sectors in the UK. As a membership-based organisation approaching 300 companies throughout the UK we provide a dynamic range of services to assist member companies win business in the UK and overseas.
